The Holy Lance – The Weapon That Changed History

The Spear of Destiny. The Lance of Longinus. By any name, this is the weapon legend says pierced Jesus Christ's side during the Crucifixion—and whoever possessed it held the fate of the world.

Constantine carried it to victory at the Milvian Bridge. Charlemagne refused to let it leave his sight. The Habsburgs locked it in the Imperial Treasury for centuries. When Hitler marched into Vienna in 1938, seizing the lance was among his first acts. This wasn't superstition—emperors and tyrants believed this relic granted divine right to rule.

The reverse captures every detail of the legendary spear in antiqued silver: the central sleeve gilded in gold, the blade inscribed with "LANCEA ET CLAVVS DOMINI" (Lance and Nail of the Lord). The obverse bears the 2024 Samoa legal tender markings and the Public Seal of Samoa at the spear's base.

Issued by Samoa in 2024, this 2 oz .999 silver coin measures 150 x 23 mm with shaped, antiqued ultra-high relief and selective gold gilding. Limited to 999 pieces—a number as symbolic as the relic itself. Presented in a black box housed within a wooden display case with red velvet insert.
